missing a couple bits of trim here and there... but looks pretty solid... wierd that its listed as a fixer upper... and priced as one
okay... that seats been slightly murdered......
but other than that it looks pretty good
hrmmm... probably a good thing its 200km away from me... thats a hellova bike ride

The bike ride is far and how would you get your bike home?

Remember to budget for a bike rack:

back seat... quick release wheels and saddle should make it fit

€3000 seems very cheap.

That looks like a lovely vehicular implement of the kind
that we rarely see around here.
![]() 12/07/2018 at 13:57 |

hmmm... that looks really good with bikes on the roof... now i really want it
![]() 12/07/2018 at 13:58 |

you definitely dont find em that cheap often
![]() 12/07/2018 at 13:59 |

they’re not rare here yet..... but you dont often find em under 5 grand

I meant here on Oppo, but yeah, there aren’t many on this side of the pond. I’ve seen more 2CVs on the roads than 500s --
one
vs. zilch, respectively
.
![]() 12/07/2018 at 14:11 |

aah fair dee dos
funnily enough.. a 2cv is the other car im really really tempted by... got a couple nearby in my price range
(but the missus aint fond of that idea.... its cute... but it folds like a wet rag if hit)

There you go, what are you waiting for, hop on the trail and go buy a POS Italian
econo box.

oh boy oh boy i have permission :D
oh wait... missus still in slapping range
shush :p

Shit, if the body’s clean and straight and the drivetrain’s good ? Ain’t nothing there an upholsterer couldn’t improve on for cheap.
![]() 12/07/2018 at 14:40 |
|
thats what i was thinking... it *looks* solid
all 18 horsies raring to go... and as im in europeland those missing bits of trim shouldnt be a major headache either
![]() 12/07/2018 at 14:48 |
|
But this is from a time when the trim was cheap metal thrown in a chrome bath and installed with wood screws too. If it REALLY comes down to it, it can’t be that expensive to have it fabricated. Popular enough that it probably has a ready-made upholstery kit too.
![]() 12/07/2018 at 14:51 |
|
come to think of it..... i work with sheetmetal... i could probably make the bits at work then have them chromed
and theres a granddad mechanic up the street from me who does his own upholstery... specializes in motown steel but im sure a little italian wont faze him
this idea is sounding better and better
![]() 12/07/2018 at 14:56 |
|
Well shit, there you go. It’s all stamped sheet metal stuck on anyways, and chroming? Chroming is cheap as fuck . Over on this side of the pond, if you bring the small parts ready to hang, $50 out the door.

tbh.... i might be able to get it done as a freebie at me previous worksite
i was their powdercoating guy
hmmmmmmmm
oh man i hope this is still for sale when i know if im still employed a couple weeks from now

Have you somewhere dry to keep it?
B
ecause if not forget it! It’ll dissolve.
![]() 12/07/2018 at 15:54 |

This is as “you” as a custom built car would be.
![]() 12/07/2018 at 16:03 |

lol even my shed isnt dry
but thats no problem... at 3 grand i just need it to live 2 and a half years to meet my np quota

hot pink woulda made it perfect. but this will do

A rattle can job for an extra $10 is easy.

MY GOD YES! Please buy it! You’ll be my friend forever! :D
I have a LOT of information (parts catalogs, service manuals, you name it) saved on them in digital form, hit me up for it when you’re ready if you do get it! :D
Consider swapping in a FIAT 126 transmission or engine/transmission if it hasn’t already. The 126 trans bolts up to the 500 engine and has synchromesh, so far easier to drive (no sychro on first gear or reverse though). The 126 engine is basically just a bored out 500 engine and drops straight in after changing the rear engine mount (they only have 3 engine mounts AFAIK).
Also 126 engines are 652cc, so larger with a slight bump in torque and horsepower...most 500s were about 17-18hp, but the 126 engines were 24hp, which would be a noticeable bump in a car that small! :D
![]() 12/07/2018 at 20:22 |
|
oh man you are making it so much harder for me to just say no :p
buuuuuuuuut... if i have to engine swap you know i gotta busa
(well.. for this ill stay in italy and monster it)
![]() 12/08/2018 at 06:31 |
|
I prefer to stay with relatively original parts when classic 500s and 126s are involved! :P
![]() 12/08/2018 at 07:47 |
|
And the 500 WON’T fold like a wet rag? :P
...
I’d still get it anyway. :P
![]() 12/08/2018 at 08:30 |
|
ah but the 500 *looks* less flimsy than the 2cv :p
![]() 12/08/2018 at 14:40 |

This is my kind of logic :P

If you do, indeed,
go for it, here’s a link to all my info! :)

oh wow.. lot of stuff there nice :D
dunno if ill be getting this one... still waiting to find out exactly how employed i am next year
guess its wait and see for now.... and hope all the good bargains arent gone by the time i know where im at
![]() 12/08/2018 at 16:17 |
|
I try to collect info and documents as I go! :D
I have a similar amount for the 2CV as well if you ever get one of those instead! :P
No worries if you don’t get it! If you get any at any point I will be psyched as it’s one of my favorite cars! They are out of my price range though, but 126s are not as they haven’t reached the same value yet (despite basically being 500s underneath!)
![]() 12/08/2018 at 16:25 |
|
lol they are cute little buggers (and i do like fiats... you can blame the panda for that)
over here 500s are still reasonably priced for now... probably wont be for too much longer tho
that said... i dont see em for sale as often as i used too

If I wanted to find a decent 500 already in Canada or import one, it would probably cost me like $12000 CAD for a decent one.
I can import a FIAT 126p from Poland for more like $7000 CAD. :(
![]() 12/08/2018 at 18:11 |

ouch.... yeah its about half that here
